Some Key Activities Implemented by DEHWCI in Liberia
Dehwci is a fully operational NGO, dedicated to assisting mothers and children. During the outbreak of the Ebola Virus in Liberia in 2014, as a humanitarian Dr. Anita Chioke undertook the following activities as a mean to provide humanitarian aid to over 1500 homeless women and children that were affected directly and indirectly. All those activities were done under the Dignity and Empowerment for Homeless Women and Children International (DEHWCI). During the outbreak of the EVD the DEHWCI spend over twenty-five to thirty thousand United States Dollars.

- The community entry process, meeting with community leaders, key stakeholders, and other influence individuals to educate their community members that the Ebola virus is real
History
Our story starts way back:
During the outbreak of the Ebola Virus in Liberia in 2014, as a humanitarian Dr. Anita Chioke undertook the followings activities as a mean to provide humanitarian aid to over 1500 homeless women and children that were affected directly and indirectly. All those activities were done under the Dignity and Empowerment for Homeless Women and Children International (DEHWCI). During the outbreak of the EVD the DEHWCI spend over twenty-five to thirty thousand United States Dollars .
The Dignity and Empowerment for Homeless Women and Children International (DEHWCI) was able to carryout it awareness and sensitization in two(2) of the fifteen (15) Counties in Liberia, namely: Montserrado, Grand Bassa Counties.
The DEHWCI during the outbreak of the Ebola Virus in Liberia provided livelihood support for over 1000 Ebola affected Women and Children, the livelihood support including: rice, vegetable oil, Vita Cub, Table Silt, sugar, Corn Meal and other assorted food items. The Organization also provided disinfectant materials like chloride, hand washing buckets, bath soap, washing soap and other assorted materials. The DEHWCI distributed over twenty-five thousand (25) IEC materials to over 3000 household and families in the nine counties.
The DEHWCI also provided Educational Aids for over three hundred and fifty (350) in the two (2) Counties.

To organize developmental programs for homeless girls/teenage mothers through education and career readiness.

During the awareness and sensitization campaign has targeted number of two thousand community dwellers across the ten communities and one thousand five hundred community dwellers in three communities in Grand Bassa County; however target reach the total number of seven thousand community dwellers at the end of the six (6) months period. At the end of the six (6) months, YWCA Ebola Awareness and Sensitization Team has covered over one thousand nine hundred (1900) household and have reach out to over seven thousand (7) community dwellers, including community leaders, religious leaders, commissioners, young people, women, men and other local traditional leaders in the both counties. The YWCA Ebola Awareness and Sensitization Team have covered thirteen (13) communities and reached out to over two hundred and fifty (250) Ebola affected Orphans, one hundred and fifty (150) in Montserrado County and one hundred in Grand Bassa County.
